How do I add a domain name pointer?

Please note: This support article is a guide for our Linux users only.

The following article explains how to add a domain name pointer (alias). A domain name pointer is an additional domain name that points to the website. Some examples of aliases would be domainname.org and domainname.net. Adding the alias using the instructions below will configure our server to recognize the domain name. You will still need to register the domain name and point it to our name servers.

To add a domain name pointer, please follow these steps:

  1. Open a browser window and go to www.HostMySite.com.
  2. Click on Control Panel Login.
  3. Log into the Control Panel as one of the following:
    • Account Administrator and select the appropriate domain
    • Technical Contact for the domain
  4. Click on Apache and select Alias Administration.
  5. Enter the domain name alias.
  6. Click Add Alias.
